ABOUT ME
I have been writing ever since I could hold a pen, and I can remember creating fictional stories as young as elementary school (namely one about the many adventures of a "Queen Alicia" and her nameless husband, "The King"). I love to read and have desired since I was little to emulate the authors I cherish. Throughout middle school and high school, I started writing many stories I never finished. Finally, however, I began a fantasy novel that I was determined to finish—REMNANTS OF MAGIC. Writing this novel was a long journey and one that I feel is still not over.
My goal, as a writer, is ultimately to entertain. I want to write heartfelt stories, evoking a range of emotions from readers. If I managed to entertain and evoke emotion from you even a little bit, then I succeeded! Yay! And, thank you very much for reading and enjoying my work!
Here is a little more about me…
I've lived all over the United States but basically grew up in Michigan. Some of my favorite States to live in were, Kentucky, California, and Virginia!
I graduated from Michigan State University in Equine Management, and I love to incorporate my love of horses into my stories. I also have a B.A. in English and Writing with a concentration in Fiction from Southern New Hampshire University and a Secondary Teaching Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.
I enjoy reading, archery, spending time with my family, and hanging out with horses.
The Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling are my favorite novels. Another fantasy series I love is the Green Rider books by Kristen Britain. Check them out! I also have to admit that I've been influenced heavily by C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and even Jane Austen.
I would like to rescue a Greyhound eventually (maybe an English Bulldog, too!). And I would love to own a horse again someday. A Thoroughbred, ex-racehorse rescue would be my choice. I enjoy dressage, jumping, and riding fast.
Visiting the United Kingdom and Spain are on my wish list (can I mention that I love Andalusian horses, too?) and anywhere where there's beautiful landscape or a beach!
I currently live with my two highly entertaining cats, Draco and Georgiana (who often like to delete large passages from my work and replace it with their own words of wisdom, or more rather gibberish...). And yes, they are named after Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter and Georgiana Darcy from Pride and Prejudice :)
Overall, I'm a pretty low-key person. That's why I love to immerse myself in a good book or movie.
Lastly, a couple of fun facts: I'm a huge John Wayne fan and I still collect the original 1980s My Little Ponies.
